Salon Manager Job Description

We're looking for a Salon Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our hair salon based in Majik Forest Shopping Centre, Cape Town.

The Salon Manager will be responsible for hiring and organising training for stylists, managing schedules, and ensuring that customers are satisfied with their experience. The ideal candidate will ideally have experience in the hair industry and be able to provide strong leadership to our team of stylists. Responsibilities:

• Manages and oversees the day-to-day operations of the salon including opening and closing procedures, staff behavior and customer intake procedures.
• Ensure the stylists booking columns are scheduled effectively; this means being at the front desk answering the phone, scheduling, and checking clients out.
• Creating a welcoming, leaning, and nurturing environment for all Show Hair Salon employees and customers to promote sales and services success.
• In charge working with Human Resources to assist with interviewing, hiring, training, and dismissing staff members and managing salon’s day-to-day activities.
• Good record keeping skills are required, attendance registers must be updated daily, and cash-up procedures done and recorded.
• Monitors salon supplies and equipment and orders new stock as needed.
• Ensure merchandising and visual standards are organised, clean and presentable.
• Monitors staff performance and provide guidance for growth.
• Address and resolve any complaints that clients may have about the salon or its employees.
• Create policies and procedures designed to enhance the performance of team members.
• Ensure consistent execution of Show Salon’s policies and procedures.
• Ensure all staff are complying with occupational health.
• Ensure that the salon always remains clean and sanitary.
• Oversee staff meetings and reporting back to management.

 

Requirements:

• High school diploma
• Proven experience managing a high-volume, upscale salon or similar client service experience.
• Strong leadership and management skills
• Personal appreciation for dressing well, maintaining a good hair and make-up routine and living a healthy lifestyle.
• Love working and interacting with people.
• Keen eye on detail.
• Highly organised in keeping and recording records.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent phone skills – Friendly, caring, and pleasant
• Open to flexible scheduling of work hours including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
